OK, it sounds like 1 of these things is happening:
-- y'all're not using the correct upload settings when uploading the video file;
-- y'all're not selecting the HD version of the video to play on YouTube; or,
-- the video file isn't properly encoded prior to upload

For the first one, what options does YouTube give you when uploading the video, if any? Likewise, it patently automatically converts all videos to a 16:9 attribute ratio if they aren't already in that format (4:3 vidoes become "pillars" on the left & right sides).

For the 2nd 1, empathize that (like Facebook) YouTube by default shows a lower quality video, unless you choose to watch a higher quaility version. Even videos that are uploaded at 720p or 1080p resolution, past default, will show up every bit either 320p or 480p. You can still watch the higher-resolution video, just yous have to manually select that version (if it'southward available). Click on the gear icon & select the quality that you want.

For the last one, try:

Appears to have recommended video/sound & format encoding settings to use for the video file before uploading it to YouTube.

For the first one, what options does YouTube give yous when uploading the video, if whatever? Too, it apparently automatically converts all videos to a 16:ix aspect ratio if they aren't already in that format (four:3 vidoes become "pillars" on the left & correct sides).

For the 2d one, sympathise that (like Facebook) YouTube by default shows a lower quality video, unless you choose to watch a higher quaility version. Even videos that are uploaded at 720p or 1080p resolution, past default, will evidence upwards as either 320p or 480p. You tin all the same sentinel the college-resolution video, but you have to manually select that version (if it's available). Click on the gear icon & select the quality that yous want.

Thanks for the respond, I went to that link, and I have a question about it.

At one part it says

Video codec: H.264

Progressive scan (no interlacing)
Loftier Profile
2 consecutive B frames
Airtight GOP. GOP of half the frame charge per unit.
CABAC
Variable bitrate. No bitrate limit required, though we offer recommended bit rates below for reference
Chroma subsampling: 4:two:0

how would I bank check if my video has progressive scan, high contour, 2 consecutive B frames, etc.?

Depends on the source of the file. If it was created past conversion from another file format (i.due east. converting from AVI to WMV), then yous would want to cheque the settings in the conversion program. If it was created from another device (i.due east. digital camera, digital video recorder, etc.), you can bank check the manual for the file specifications it uses, or check on the vendor's support page. If it was created past a screenshot program (i.east. AMD'southward Raptr), the Assistance file or manual should have the file specifications there.

There might also be some programs out there that tin can analyze a file & make up one's mind what its settings are, but I don't really practise video editing, so it's starting to go out of my areas of expertise. However, the iClarify site (which is apparenlty a programme for Macs that tin can scan a file) said that GSpot can exist used on Windows PCs in place of iClarify.

I had the same problem today with my uploaded videos on Youtube.

They were non in 1080p & I could merely picket them in 720p.

I found out it was a Chrome extension that was bugging the aqueduct called (Magic actions for YouTube) & how I fixed it was, I deleted the Magic deportment for YouTube extension.

And so, I added the extension dorsum to Chrome without irresolute the Enable Auto HD & Force role player type settings.

At present my videos are back at 1080p.

YouTube compresses all of their videos regardless of the resolution. You can amend the quality past rendering it out in 1440p or college then uploading it, because all of those videos become a improve codec, chosen VP9, which will wait ameliorate even on the lower resolution settings. And, 1440p+ also get college bitrate from YouTube. You can discover the codec of whatsoever video y'all are watching by right clicking => Stats for nerds. Usually it will say something like vp9 or avc1.XXXX.

The fabricated my 1080p recorded motorbike videos wait much improve. I could record in 4K but information technology uses upward as well much retentivity and bombardment on my Sony FDR X3000 and HDR AS300s. The 1080p video looks groovy when I render at 1920x1080 15MPS bitrate but when I upload to youtube it tin can get blurry. From now on in I will return my 1080p videos at 4k and upload to Youtube.
